Clinical and Epidemiological Characteristics of Multiple Sclerosis MS and The Association Between Familial MS and Consanguinity in The Region of Tlemcen (Western Algeria)

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, immune origin. The aim this work was to study epidemiology and clinical parameters MS patients establish association between familial consanguinity. A retrospective conducted on medical records 129 with diagnosed at Neurology department Tlemcen UHC, in order determine epidemiological profile biological characteristics. period June 2019 May 2021. Our sample reported 103 women 26 men, percentage 79.8% 20.2% respectively. sex ratio (female/male) 3.96. patient’s minimum age 19 72 years old mean 40.41 ± 11.72. onset 30.71 11.30. consanguinity not significant p = 0.141. EDSS scale (Expanded Disability Status Scale) 0 6, 2.32 1.42. Among forms, there predominance relapsing-remitting form (76%), secondary progressive (21.7%) primary 2.3%.
